Our approach

Know What Your Home Needs Before You Install

Every home is different. Your panel, wiring distance, charger location, and charger type can all affect the install.

Before recommending the work, we come to your home, check your setup, and explain your options clearly. Sometimes the simplest install path is best. Sometimes a better charger location is worth it. Sometimes load management makes sense.

You will see the options. You will see the trade-offs. You will see the price in writing — and only then do you decide.

Not Sure If Your Panel Can Handle It?

We'll check your panel before work starts and explain whether your current setup can support the charger, whether load management may be worth discussing, or whether a panel upgrade actually makes sense.

Panel checked first

A licensed electrician inspects your panel and runs a real load calculation — not a rule of thumb — before we touch a breaker.

Load management option

If your panel is tight, a smart load-management device can throttle the charger when your stove or dryer is running — and often avoids a service upgrade.

Upgrade only if it makes sense

If a panel upgrade is genuinely the right long-term move, we'll tell you why — and never upsell one you don't actually need.

Frequently asked

Calgary EV Charger Installation FAQ

The questions Calgary homeowners ask us most about home EV charger installation, permits, chargers and panels.

Do you install home EV chargers near me in Calgary?

Yes. Westland Electric is a local Calgary EV charger installation company. We install home chargers across Calgary and surrounding communities — Downtown, Kensington, Hillhurst, Mission, Inglewood, Brentwood, Tuscany, Evanston, Sage Hill, Cranston, Auburn Bay, Mahogany, Bowness, Beltline, Altadore, Killarney, Bridgeland and Varsity. If you're inside city limits, we cover you.

How does the home EV charger installation work?

It starts with a free in-home assessment. A licensed Calgary electrician checks your panel and charger location, explains your install options and pricing clearly, and only then do you decide. Once you approve, we schedule the install, pull the permit, complete the work, and you start charging at home.

How long does an EV charger installation take?

A standard home EV charger installation in Calgary takes a Westland Electric crew 4–6 hours on-site. If your panel has spare capacity and the charger is close to the panel, you can be charging the same day. Jobs that involve a panel upgrade are usually one full day.

Do I need a permit to install a home EV charger in Calgary?

Yes. A 240V Level 2 EV charger requires an electrical permit and a final inspection by The City of Calgary. Westland Electric pulls the permit, schedules the inspection, and includes both in your installation price. Skipping the permit can void your home insurance.

Can my electrical panel handle a Level 2 EV charger?

Most Calgary homes built after 1990 have a 100A or 200A panel that can accept a Level 2 EV charger directly. Older panels sometimes need a load calculation, a load-management device (so the charger throttles when the dryer or stove is running), or a panel upgrade. We check your panel before any work starts and tell you which path applies.

I already bought a charger. Will you install it?

Absolutely. Bring the Level 2 or Tesla charger you already own and we will handle the electrical side — we inspect your home setup and walk you through the safest install path before any work begins. If you have not bought one yet, we can supply and bundle it into a single quote.

Do you install both Tesla and Level 2 chargers?

Yes. Westland Electric is a Tesla Certified Installer and a ChargePoint partner, and we install Tesla Wall Connectors plus FLO, Wallbox, Grizzl-E, Emporia, JuiceBox and every other major Level 2 charger sold in Canada.

Are you a real EV charger installation company, or general electricians?

We are a licensed, locally Calgary-owned electrical contractor with a dedicated EV charger installation team. Every electrician who shows up at your door is on our payroll — not a subcontractor dispatched by a franchise quote system.

Do you offer a warranty on EV charger installations?

Yes. Every Westland Electric EV charger installation comes with a 2-year warranty on labour and materials, on top of the manufacturer warranty on the charger itself (typically 3–5 years).
